closedown

Ending all operations

A closedown is the permanent shutting of a business, factory, or operation: The closedown of the steel mill devastated the town.

In British broadcasting, closedown historically referred to the end of daily transmission, when stations signed off for the night—now largely obsolete with 24-hour programming.
