cleistothecium
A cleistothecium is a completely enclosed spherical fruiting body produced by certain fungi, particularly powdery mildews and some molds.
Unlike other fungal structures, it has no natural opening—spores are released only when the wall ruptures or decays.
Plural: cleistothecia.
