Allegiance declaration ceremony
A citizenship oath is a formal pledge taken when becoming a citizen of a country, typically declaring allegiance to that nation and its laws.
Most countries require naturalized citizens to recite such an oath in a ceremony before citizenship becomes official: She took the citizenship oath after five years of residency.
The oath often includes renouncing allegiance to foreign powers and promising to support the constitution.
