church key
Punctures beverage cans
A church key is a simple handheld tool for opening bottles or cans.
The original type has a pointed end that punctures the tops of cans—the kind that once opened beer and evaporated milk.
The term now also covers the bottle opener variety with a rounded end that pries off caps: Hand me the church key, will you?
