chow hall
Military dining facility
A chow hall is a military cafeteria—the place where troops eat their meals on base.
The term combines chow (slang for food) with hall in the sense of a large room for communal activity.
We hit the chow hall at 0600 every morning.
Sometimes called a mess hall or dining facility.
