food line
Meal distribution queue
A food line is a queue of people waiting to receive free or subsidized meals, typically at a soup kitchen, food bank, or charitable organization.
The term evokes images of economic hardship—bread lines during the Great Depression, or modern food pantry distributions: The food line stretched around the block.
It can also simply mean the serving line at any cafeteria or buffet.
