chin chin
Drinking salute phrase
Chin chin is a toast or drinking salutation, equivalent to "cheers." The expression comes from Chinese via British colonial usage and remains common in parts of Europe, particularly Italy.
It can also serve as an informal goodbye or general well-wishing: Chin chin, old boy!
The phrase sounds dated and somewhat affected in contemporary American English.
