chiming clock
Tolling time piece
A chiming clock is a clock that sounds musical notes at regular intervals, typically on the hour or quarter-hour.
The most famous pattern is the Westminster chime, heard on grandfather clocks and Big Ben.
Chiming clocks were status symbols before digital timekeeping made them decorative rather than functional: The chiming clock in the hallway marked every fifteen minutes.
