Checkpointed describes something that has had its state saved at a specific point, allowing restoration if something goes wrong.
The term comes from computing, where long processes are checkpointed so work isn't lost to crashes or failures: The simulation was checkpointed every hour.
It extends to any system with saved recovery points: a checkpointed database, checkpointed progress in a video game.
