checkout kiosk
Scan-and-pay station
A checkout kiosk is a self-service terminal where customers scan and pay for purchases without a cashier.
Common in supermarkets, pharmacies, and big-box stores, these machines let shoppers bypass traditional checkout lines: I used the checkout kiosk to avoid the long wait.
Also called a self-checkout.
