channelizer

Lane guidance device

A channelizer is a traffic control device—typically a cone, barrel, or post—used to direct vehicles or pedestrians along a specific path.

Channelizers guide traffic through construction zones, around obstacles, or into designated lanes: Orange channelizers lined the work zone.

The term also applies to anything that directs flow into channels, whether physical or figurative.
