chainstay
Rear triangle component
The chainstays are the pair of tubes on a bicycle frame that run from the bottom bracket (where the pedals attach) back to the rear wheel axle.
They form the lower part of the rear triangle and bear much of the rider's weight.
Chainstay length affects a bike's handling—shorter stays make for quicker turning, longer ones for stability.
