cesarean sections
Abdominal birth procedures
Cesarean sections are surgical deliveries of babies through an incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus, bypassing the birth canal.
The procedure is performed when vaginal delivery poses risks to mother or child, or sometimes by choice.
Often shortened to C-section: She had three C-sections.
The spelling caesarean is common in British English.
