ceramic cookware
Kiln-fired kitchen vessels
Ceramic cookware refers to pots and pans with a ceramic coating over a metal base, or less commonly, vessels made entirely of ceramic material.
The coating provides a nonstick surface marketed as free of certain chemicals found in traditional nonstick cookware: I switched to ceramic cookware to avoid Teflon.
Ceramic-coated pans require gentler treatment than metal—the coating can chip or wear with high heat and metal utensils.
