cellphone lot
Driver pickup staging
A cellphone lot is a designated parking area at an airport where drivers wait for arriving passengers to call or text when ready for pickup.
The lots keep traffic flowing at terminal curbs by giving drivers somewhere to idle until summoned: I'll wait in the cellphone lot—just text me when you have your bags.
