cathedral building
Bishop's home church
Cathedral building refers to the construction of large Christian churches, particularly the great medieval projects that took generations to complete.
These endeavors required unprecedented coordination of craftsmen, resources, and engineering knowledge.
The term extends to any ambitious, long-term construction effort: The highway system was the cathedral building of the twentieth century.
