catclaw
Hooked desert plant
Catclaw is any of several thorny plants with curved, claw-like spines that snag skin and clothing—especially acacias and mimosas of the American Southwest.
The hooked thorns resemble a cat's retracted claws.
Also spelled cat's claw or cat-claw.
We had to cut through a thicket of catclaw to reach the trail.
