carfentanil
Veterinary mega-sedative
Carfentanil is a synthetic opioid approximately 100 times more potent than fentanyl and 10,000 times more potent than morphine.
Developed as a tranquilizer for large animals like elephants, it has no approved human medical use.
Even microscopic amounts can be lethal to humans through skin contact or inhalation, making it extremely dangerous for first responders and others who may encounter it unknowingly.
It has emerged as a significant factor in opioid overdose deaths when mixed into street drugs.
