cage matches
Fenced wrestling bouts
A cage match is a wrestling or fighting contest held inside an enclosed ring, typically surrounded by chain-link fencing or metal bars to prevent escape and keep competitors contained until there's a winner.
The format is associated with professional wrestling and mixed martial arts.
Figuratively, any intense, no-holds-barred confrontation: The debate turned into a cage match between the two frontrunners.
