button-down collar
Fastened shirt points
A button-down collar has small buttons that fasten the collar points to the shirt front, preventing them from flapping or curling.
The style originated in polo to keep collars out of players' faces and became a preppy American classic: He wore an oxford shirt with a button-down collar.
Often shortened to simply "button-down."
