bumper music
Broadcast transition tune
Bumper music is the short musical segment played during transitions in radio and television broadcasts—typically leading into or out of commercial breaks, news segments, or show openings.
The term comes from the transitional "bumps" these clips provide between content sections.
The station's bumper music became instantly recognizable to listeners.
