brush marks
Strokes left behind
Brush marks are the visible traces left by a brush's bristles in paint, varnish, or other applied coatings.
In house painting or furniture finishing, brush marks are usually undesirable—evidence of imperfect technique: The cheap brush left noticeable brush marks in the finish.
In fine art, brush marks may be intentional, revealing the artist's hand and adding texture to the work.
