breed rescue
Specific-type animal sanctuary
A breed rescue is an organization that takes in homeless or surrendered dogs of a specific breed, rehabilitates them if needed, and places them in adoptive homes.
Unlike general animal shelters, breed rescues focus on one breed and often have volunteers with specialized knowledge: She adopted her greyhound through a breed rescue.
The term extends to similar organizations for cats and other animals.
