bread-basket
Slang for belly
A bread-basket is a basket for holding bread at the table.
By extension, a region's bread-basket is its most productive agricultural area—the land that feeds the population: The Midwest is America's bread-basket.
In older slang, the bread-basket is the stomach, from its role in receiving food: He took a punch right in the bread-basket.
