box plot
Whisker chart type
A box plot is a standardized way of displaying the distribution of data in statistics, using a rectangle (the box) that shows the middle 50% of values, with lines (whiskers) extending to show the range.
The box contains a line marking the median, while its edges represent the first and third quartiles.
Outliers typically appear as individual points beyond the whiskers.
Also called a box-and-whisker plot, this visualization quickly reveals data spread, skewness, and unusual values.
The box plot showed that most test scores clustered between 70 and 85.
