bounty hunters
Paid criminal pursuers
Bounty hunters are people who pursue fugitives or wanted persons for a reward.
In the American legal system, bail bondsmen hire bounty hunters to track down defendants who skip bail—the bounty hunter earns a percentage of the bond.
The term also applies to those who hunt animals for bounties or, in fiction, mercenaries who capture targets for payment: The bounty hunter tracked him across three states.
