P-plates
New driver signs
P-plates are signs displayed on vehicles driven by newly licensed drivers who have passed their test but are still in a probationary period.
Required by law in Australia and used voluntarily in the UK, they indicate the driver is inexperienced.
The P stands for probationary or provisional: She just got off her P-plates last month.
