body consciousness
Physical self-perception
Body consciousness is awareness of one's physical form—how it looks, feels, or appears to others.
The term can be neutral, describing mindful attention to posture or sensation: Yoga develops body consciousness.
More often it carries connotations of self-consciousness or anxiety about appearance: She felt acute body consciousness in the swimsuit.
In philosophical contexts, it refers to the mind's awareness of inhabiting a physical body.
