bobbles

Drops the ball

Bobbles are small decorative balls, typically fuzzy or pom-pom-like, attached to fabric or clothing: a hat with bobbles, a bobble-trimmed curtain.

In British usage, bobbles also refers to the small fiber balls that form on worn fabric—what Americans call pills or fuzz.

To bobble something is to fumble or mishandle it, especially in sports: He bobbled the catch and dropped the ball.
