Blown out describes something destroyed or extinguished by force—a candle blown out by wind, a tire blown out on the highway.
In photography, a blown out image or area is overexposed, with highlights rendered as featureless white: The sky is completely blown out in this shot.
For competitions, a blown out game or match is a lopsided rout.
Blown out can also describe exhaustion or physical deterioration: My knees are blown out from years of running.
