blood draining

Losing life fluid

Blood draining is the act of letting blood flow out of a body, whether through bleeding an animal after slaughter, drawing blood medically, or—in horror fiction—a vampire feeding on a victim.

The phrase also describes the sensation when fear or shock makes color leave the face: I felt the blood draining from my face when I saw the accident.
