blaeberry
Wild moorland fruit
A blaeberry is a small dark blue berry that grows wild on moorlands, especially in Scotland and northern England.
The word is the Scottish and northern English name for what's elsewhere called a bilberry or whortleberry—a relative of the blueberry but smaller and more intensely flavored: We picked blaeberries on the hillside.
