Spiky Australian plant
Blackboy is an Australian term for grass trees of the genus *Xanthorrhoea*—tall plants with dark trunks and grass-like foliage that were thought to resemble Aboriginal people from a distance.
The name is now considered offensive and has largely been replaced by grass tree in contemporary usage.
The blackboys dotted the hillside after the bushfire.
