black king
Dark side's ruler
The black king is one of two kings in a chess set, commanding the dark-colored pieces.
Each player's king is the most important piece—the game ends when a king is checkmated.
In standard setup, the black king starts on e8.
The term also refers to the corresponding piece in checkers, where a king is a piece that has reached the opponent's back row and gained the ability to move backward.
