binary arithmetic
Zeros-and-ones calculations
Binary arithmetic is mathematical calculation using only the digits 0 and 1, where each position represents a power of two rather than ten.
Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division all work by the same principles as decimal arithmetic but with simpler rules: 1 + 1 = 10 (that is, zero with a carry).
Binary arithmetic is fundamental to computing, since electronic circuits naturally represent two states—on and off.
