base coach
Runner's on-field guide
A base coach is one of two coaches stationed in boxes along the first and third base lines during a baseball game.
They guide baserunners—signaling when to run, stop, or slide—and relay signs from the dugout to batters.
The first base coach watches runners leaving first; the third base coach makes the critical calls on whether to send runners home.
