ballistic missiles
Nuclear delivery systems
Ballistic missiles are weapons that follow an arcing trajectory after an initial powered phase, then fall toward their target under gravity.
Unlike cruise missiles, which fly like aircraft, ballistic missiles travel partly outside the atmosphere.
They're classified by range: intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) can strike targets thousands of miles away.
The treaty limited each nation's ballistic missiles.
