bakers yeast
Dough rising agent
Baker's yeast is a strain of yeast used to leaven bread and other baked goods.
The living cells consume sugars and produce carbon dioxide, which makes dough rise.
Sold as active dry granules, instant powder, or fresh cakes: Proof the baker's yeast in warm water before adding it to the flour.
The same species is used in brewing, where it's called brewer's yeast.
