backward passes
Throws behind yourself
In American football, a backward pass (or lateral) is a throw directed toward the passer's own goal line rather than toward the opponent's.
Unlike forward passes, backward passes can be thrown from anywhere on the field and by any player.
A fumbled backward pass remains live and can be recovered by either team.
The play ended in disaster when the backward pass bounced off the receiver's hands.
