baby mama

Unmarried child's mother

Baby mama is the mother of a man's child, where the parents are not married and typically no longer in a romantic relationship.

The term originated in African American and Caribbean English and has spread into mainstream slang: My baby mama and I share custody.

It can be neutral or carry connotations of complicated, informal family arrangements.

The male equivalent is baby daddy.
