autobid
System places wager
Autobid is a feature in online auctions that automatically places bids on your behalf up to a maximum amount you set.
The system incrementally outbids competitors until your limit is reached: I set an autobid of $200 and won the vintage camera for $175.
Also called proxy bidding.
