audience share
Viewer percentage metric
Audience share is the percentage of people watching or listening to a particular program compared to all those using the medium at that time.
Unlike ratings, which measure total viewership, share measures what portion of the active audience a program captures: The show pulled a 30 share, meaning it had 30 percent of viewers watching at that hour.
The metric matters most to broadcasters competing for the same time slot.
