artist signature
Painter's penned name
An artist signature is the name, initials, or mark an artist places on their work to identify themselves as its creator.
Signatures typically appear in a corner of paintings or prints, often with a date.
The presence, style, and placement of an artist's signature can affect authentication and value: The painting bore a faint artist signature in the lower right corner.
