arrow shaft
Feathered rod's core
The arrow shaft is the long, straight body of an arrow—the central rod to which the arrowhead, fletching, and nock attach.
Shafts are traditionally made of wood but now commonly of aluminum, carbon fiber, or fiberglass.
The shaft's stiffness, weight, and straightness affect the arrow's flight: He selected shafts matched to his bow's draw weight.
