air speed
Knots measure this
Air speed is the velocity of an aircraft relative to the air through which it's moving, as distinct from ground speed (velocity relative to the earth's surface).
Wind affects the difference: a plane with an air speed of 500 mph flying into a 100 mph headwind has a ground speed of only 400 mph.
The pilot reported an air speed of 250 knots.
