keyed-up
Tense with anticipation
Keyed-up describes a state of nervous excitement or tension, often in anticipation of something: She was too keyed-up to sleep before the interview.
The image is of something wound tight, ready to spring.
A keyed-up person may be anxious, eager, or both—alert and on edge.
