agency fees
Middleman's cut taken
Agency fees are payments made to an agent or agency for services rendered, typically calculated as a percentage of a transaction or as a flat rate.
In real estate, these cover the broker's commission for facilitating a sale or rental.
In employment contexts, agency fees may refer to charges by staffing firms or, historically, to payments non-union workers made to unions representing their workplace—a practice now restricted in the U.S. following the 2018 Supreme Court decision in *Janus v.
AFSCME*.
