age-set
Life-stage peer group
An age-set is a group of people of similar age who pass through life stages together, particularly in African societies where such groupings structure social organization.
Members of an age-set often undergo initiation rites together and share lifelong bonds and obligations: The warriors of his age-set gathered for the ceremony.
Age-sets may progress through grades—from youth to elder—as a cohort.
