afterschool program
Post-dismissal supervised activities
An afterschool program is an organized activity for children during the hours between the end of the school day and when parents return from work.
These programs may offer homework help, sports, arts, or simply supervised care.
The term reflects the American pattern of school ending in mid-afternoon while most jobs end later: The afterschool program keeps kids safe until pickup at six.
