aerospike
Truncated engine design
An aerospike is a type of rocket engine nozzle that maintains efficiency across a wide range of altitudes.
Unlike conventional bell-shaped nozzles optimized for a single altitude, the aerospike uses atmospheric pressure against a central spike or wedge to shape the exhaust flow, automatically adjusting as air pressure changes during ascent.
